flashofsteel asked: hey, dont mean to be a stickler but i think the pic you have tagged as "shogun assassin" is actually zatoichi meets yojimbo. havent seen it myself, so if you havent and decide to watch it, enjoy it for the both of us please :]

You are of course correct :) Now that I think about it Shogun Assassin is in color, and had it been that movie, the Samurai would have been fatter and there would have been blood everywhere ;)

"Go without a coat when it’s cold; find out what cold is. Go hungry; keep your existence lean. Wear away the fat, get down to the lean tissue and see what it’s all about. The only time you define your character is when you go without. In times of hardship, you find out what you’re made of and what you’re capable of. If you’re never tested, you’ll never define your character."

"It is more important that innocence be protected than it is that guilt be punished, for guilt and crimes are so frequent in this world that they cannot all be punished. But if innocence itself is brought to the bar and condemned, perhaps to die, then the citizen will say, “whether I do good or whether I do evil is immaterial, for innocence itself is no protection,” and if such an idea as that were to take hold in the mind of the citizen that would be the end of security whatsoever."

"What I really fear is time. That’s the devil: whipping us on when we’d rather loll, so the present sprints by, impossible to grasp, and all is suddenly past. My past — it doesn’t feel real in the slightest. The person who inhabited it is not me. It’s as if the present me is constantly dissolving. There’s the line of Heraclitus: ‘No man steps in the same river twice, for it is not the same river and he is not the same man.’ That’s quite right. We enjoy this illusion of continuity, and we call it memory. Which explains, perhaps, why our worst fear isn’t the end of life but the end of memories"

Seasick Steve, I love his latest record — “You can’t teach an old dog new tricks” — I’m especially fond of the opening track “Treasures”.
